King Katcher Guide Service provides affordable fishing trips for
Alaska Salmon and Halibut

At King Katcher Guide Service, we offer many Alaska fishing packages for the
Kenai River, Kasilof river, Cook Inlet and Resurrection Bay.

Kenai river King Salmon fishing is our specialty. Hence the name "King
Katcher Guide Service." Each Summer in May, June and July "King
Katcher" constantly strives to guide it's clients to trophy King Salmon.
The Kenai River is a large, but not long, glacial fed river that begins its
descent to Cook Inlet from the Kenai Mountain range of Alaska's Kenai
Peninsula. The turquoise waters of the Kenai River come from the
glacial silt that the river carries to the ocean. Due to their breeding and
genetics the Kenai River King Salmon  in particular, are the LARGEST IN
THE WORLD!!!!

In May on 1985, the world record King Salmon was caught on the Kenai
River by local resident, Les Andersen. The Monster King weighted in at
97.4 pounds. Les' record has stood to be broken for 21 years, and each
guide day, we attempt to reel in the next World Record. 80 pound fish
are caught each year in the Kenai River. (The World Record Kenai King
Salmon can be viewed in person at the Soldotna Visitor Center in
Soldotna).

In Order to have a successful fishing trip on the Kenai River it is best to
hire a local guide who possesses the proper fishing know-how,
equipment, and passion for fishing to land one of the ginormous Kenai
Kings.

King Katcher Guide Service only uses the finest equipment made. Our
beautiful 20'6 Willie Predator is powered by a Yamaha Four Stroke
motor is the best possible platform for hauling in Kenai River Kings. In
addition to our Predator, we also use only G-Loomis Hot Shot Rods
perfectly matched to our style of fishing and the size of the kings.
Additionally, we only use Shimano Calcutta 400 level wind reels lined
with 65 pound test braided Stren Super Braid line. Though years of
experience, we believe this is the best possible set-up!

Our fishing methodology varies depending on what has been working
best at that time of the year. Generally we will be fishing a method called
Backtrolling. Backtrolling is similar to trolling, except the boat gradually
works its way back down the river against the current very slowly. .
Sometimes we will use a method called backbouncing which is in
essence, jigging a weight down river  and enticing a King to bite the
eggs. If these methods are not working, we will attempt Drifting (also
called "Boondogging"). Drifiting involves floating down river,
perpindicular to the bank in hopes of legally snagging a fish in the mouth.

With the power to nearly snap a rod  in two and will do everything in its
power to break the fighting fisherman's line and will A Kenai King salmon
will offer the ultimate fishing experience! It's truly amazingly exhilarating
and undescribable at the same time!
